This honor of designing this year's Doernbecher Air Jordan goes to 10-year old Damien Phillips, who worked his magic on the Air Jordan 7.
An avid fan of the Chicago Bulls, Phillips was thrilled to learn about his opportunity to design the Jordan 7, splashing the shoe with the Bulls' famous black and red color scheme. Rock 'n Roll accents like a guitar pick on the laces and a heel tab resembling a guitar neck represent his passion for music and ability to jam on a guitar. The outsole even features an animated graphic of the youngster playing a power solo.
A red and black colorway with golden accents, but the details are what give the shoe something special. In the sense of Rock n Roll, the shoe gets a decent vintage look, a plectrum as a lacetag, the heelab is modeled on a guitar neck, on which you can see Damien as a rocking comic figure and golden details for the rock star glamor factor.
